"I've never heard of this musical!"
Assistant Director Tiernan McCulloch created our poster design while he was at our open paint night on May 4! A little trivia, Tiernan has worked on every production that the Arts Bubble has done since we floated into Norristown in 2021.
"What the bleep is this musical about?" - a patron
"Why don't you do Mean Girls like everyone else is doing?" - a patron

We're glad you asked! The Arts Bubble prides itself on teaching our young leaders to speak out and act up. That's exactly what Star Kids has done with their fun, rebellious and spicy musicals, such as the three new musicals in the Hatchetfield horror musical series, including THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS with music and lyrics by Jeff Blim and book by Nick and Matt Lang. We've literally been waiting since 2016 to be able to share this show with our community and the young folks who suggested it to us are SO EXCITED to be one of the first groups in the region to get to share it with you. Jeff Blim even approved lyric changes for our teen version that were written by our outspoken teens! Like the crazy super hero exploits of the STARMITES who learned that courage doesn't have a gender, and CITY OF ANGELS, where our participants learned that using your own true voice rather than trying to be like everyone else is an important part of growing up, THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS has an even more important lesson about what happens when we stop thinking for ourselves.

Paul is a guy who doesn't like musicals. In fact, even when he's offered free tickets to a musical theatre production in his small town, he doesn't want to go. The only thing that will get him into the theatre is when a meteor lands on a touring production of Mama Mia, infecting the entire town of Hatchetfield with an alien spore. Will Paul learn that musicals can save the world or will he fight to stay unique? You can only find out if you get your FREE (pay what you will actually, as we could use some scratch to pay for the show) tickets to see The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals at Cosmic Arts Studio on High Street in Pottstown.

Oh, and though kids seem to love it, this show is NOT a kids' show. It's in the horror genre, and like City of Angels, this play explores mature themes that high school and college kids are exposed to in their daily lives. We label it PG-13 due to language (even an F bomb gets dropped) and potentially scary (although sometimes funny) situations. It is the teen version, some of the spicier sexual interactions have been cleaned up, but the social commentary is dope and relevant. So you might want to learn more about the musical before attending. This is the teen version, but there's still dicey words and situations. Be warned!
